The 22nd edition of Pune Festival was inaugurated on Friday at Ganesh Kala Krida Manch in presence of dignitaries. Actress Hema Malini with daughters Esha and Ahana performed Ganesh Vandana at the inauguration ceremony.

The 22nd edition of Pune Festival got off to a grand start. The festival was inaugurated by Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy Farooq Abdullah at the Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch here yesterday.
The event is organised by Pune Festival Committee, Department of Tourism Government of India and Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation. The event started off with a bang with the traditional ‘Ganesh Vandana’ enacted by Bollywood star and Bharatanatyam exponent Hema Malini and her two daughters Ahana And Esha Deol.
The Ganesh Vandana was followed by the Maharashtra ‘Gaurav Geet’ and the recital of traditional Ganesh Puja from the eras of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj to the Peshwas and from Lokmanya Tilak till today.
This year’s awardees such as famous classical singer Padmavibhushan Pandita Kishori Amonkar, Padmashree Anu Aga, famous socialist and industrialist and Padmashree Cyrus Poonawala were felicitated at the hands of the chief guest Dr Abdullah during the function.
Actresses Varsha Usgaonkar, Sonali Kulkarni, Amrita Khanvilkar, Deepali Sayyad and troupe presented cultural programmes like ‘Lavani Bavankhani’, a folk dance of Maharashtra.
The dais was shared by eminent personalities like Dr Patangrao Kadam, state Forest Minister; Suresh Kalmadi, MP and president of Pune Festival; Narayan Rane, State Revenue Minister; Harshawardhan Patil, State Co-operation Minister; xRamesh Bagwe, State Co-operation Minister; Mohansingh Rajpal, Mayor; Chandrakant Dalvi, District Collector and Mahesh Zagade, Municipal Commissioner among others.
