Mahavat (mvat) website published filing of returns for current year

Department of Sales Tax, Government of Maharashtra, India has published the filing of returns as per the periodicity on web site its official website for the year 2010-11. These can be checked on the its website on http://www.mahavat.gov.in.

Frequency & periodicity for the returns to be filed for the periods covered in FY 2010-11 is now also available under the Know Your TIN facility. Dealers are advised to file their returns under VAT & CST Act as per the periodicity and use new templates of e-Return i.e. version 1.2.2.

Maharashtra Value Added Tax Act extended to the whole of the State of Maharashtra with effect from the 1st of April, 2005. It is a value added tax is a form of consumption tax on the estimated market value added to a product or material at each stage of its manufacture or distribution, ultimately passed on to the consumer. It differs from a sales tax, which is levied only at the point of purchase.
